A copy of your Record of Birth Abroad can be obtained in as little as four weeks, but may take up to eight weeks or longer. This document can be used in application for a passport or proof of US citizenship. Most consular vital records are retrieved from the National Archives or other record repositories. Because of this, definitive turnaround times are not available. However, all requests are given expedited priority service.
This service includes birth records for American citizens born after October 1, 1979 in the U.S. Virgin Islands, Puerto Rico and the Panama Canal Zone.
